In 2010, eLearning continued to emerge as the practical and efficient alternative to live-instruction. More and more companies are employing web-based learning systems as a means to save time and travel costs, and as an environmentally friendly initiative. In fact, the American Society for Training and Development reports that nearly 30 percent of all learning hours occur in an online environment. As user experiences move closer to replicating real classroom interaction, we can expect the trend to continue. Articulation recently worked on an instructional design project, helping to convert a series of training courses into a web-based Flash format.

Articulation recently contributed design work on a custom Closed Captioning pod for Adobe Connect. Through our relationship with high-end eLearning and development shop eSyncTraining, Articulation provided architecture and design for both the user interface and user experience. The team was challenged to maximize accessibility and functionality, while creating a clean, modern look that seamlessly integrates into the Adobe Connect workspace. User interface features include customizable font, text size, text color and background color, adjustable pod size, multiple language and source options, and rewind and fast forward time controls. With the new custom pod, Adobe will be able to effectively deliver and manage Closed Captioning services for their release of Connect Pro 8.

In the third quarter, Articulation revisited a production client’s website, updating the site for the company’s recent work creating and populating a press section to accommodate the ongoing string of media coverage. 2 Roosters Media, an award-winning television and film production company, recently completed work on Surviving the Cut, a new Discovery Channel program documenting the intense training of military Special Forces. The company reached out to Articulation for an effective solution to archive and showcase the trailer for their new show as well as promoting their press coverage, including magazine, newspaper and web articles and reviews. In addition, the team updated the home page and productions page to reflect the client’s recent successes.

Following up the efforts with a free song download for all fans and a promise of more giveaways in the near future, the company is set to gain a significant following on the ubiquitous social networking site which could translate to real-life profits. PandaExpress, Baja Fresh, T.G.I. Friday’s, 1-800-Flowers.com, The Children’s Place, and many other companies have also begun using giveaways as a means to expand their fan base, promote their offerings, and build brand awareness. As with any strategy, it is important to assess whether the strengths of your company’s offerings can be effectively conveyed through this type of method before including it in your marketing plan. When executed appropriately, a fan giveaway can be an excellent marketing resource as well as true testament to your product.

Articulation partnered with a leading provider of branding, interactive, and content services for athletes to develop the design framework for the firm’s corporate identity brochure and print materials. The company, which provides branded content that reflects the individual interests and personas of each unique athlete, contacted Articulation to develop a Brand Blueprint, or creative brief with a multi-tier strategy demonstrating the marketing potential of an individual athlete. The team at Articulation contributed significant identity and design efforts to the brochure, which has since been successfully employed as part of their marketing and branding process.
